In September 2010, IAPB and the International Council for Ophthalmology jointly convened a workshop at the Lions Aravind Institute for Community Ophthalmology (LAICO) in Madurai, India, to identify global research priorities in eye care. This years workshop is planned along the same lines focusing on India. Purpose of the workshop: To develop a research plan and identify priorities with a focus on improving coverage, which will lead to improved control of avoidable visual impairment and blindness in India over the next 10 years. Targeted Participants: This 3 day workshop is planned in the form of a consultation in which experts in the area work around a commonly accepted structure to come out with the research priorities.
